Mary Edwards Walker, on whom this book is based, was way ahead of her time. Reading about her is most definitely worth your time. Doctor, surgeon, Civil War volunteer, POW, lecturer, advocate, one of the very few civilian recipients of The Medal of Honor- she is fascinating.
