Black Seeded Simpson is a classic early-producing leaf lettuce known for its tender, curled leaves and fresh, crisp flavor. This easy-to-grow variety produces abundant greens ideal for salads, sandwiches, and garnishes. Harvest outer leaves regularly for continuous growth, or enjoy young thinnings as baby greens.
Suitable for spring planting with a second sowing in late summer for fall harvest.
Founded by Wisconsin folk musician Trapper Schoepp and created in collaboration with New York’s Bentley Seeds (trusted freshcrop supplier since 1975).
Each packet includes simple planting instructions and a QR code linking to music and growing resources.
Lifecycle: Annual vegetable • Sun: Full sun to partial sun Planting Depth: ¼ inch • Spacing: Thin plants to 8" apart. Harvest - 1 month. Plant again late summer for a second harvest in fall.
